DENTURES

Dentures or “false teeth” are a removable prosthetic used to replace missing teeth. Dentures restore the mouth to normal function and support the lips and cheeks to return your natural facial profile.
Dentures are constructed of acrylic, chrome or valplast

A partial denture is used to replace one or more missing teeth. A lot of people think they don’t need a partial denture as they have other teeth to chew on but it is important to replace missing teeth to keep the remaining teeth in alignment and occlusion .

When people forego a partial denture, it is most commonly to replace molars (back teeth) as it is less noticeable . This is a mistake as molars are a large flat tooth specifically designed for grinding.
Incisors (front teeth) have a thin edge and are designed for slicing and tearing your food. If you try to chew your food on your front teeth and have them perform the function of molars, they will wear at an extremely accelerated rate as they can’t cope with the load.
Depending on the amount of teeth missing and the required bite reconstruction, the process of a denture can take anywhere from 2 to 5 visits. Further visits for adjustments may be required as the denture settles.
Dentures are the cheapest option for tooth replacement however they do take some getting used to. We recommend eating soft food to begin with while getting used to your denture.
